Zainul Abedin Museum, Bangladesh. -- Zainul Museu Abedin, Bangladesh.

Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (alternate: Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala; translation: "Great Teacher of the Arts" Zainul Abedin "Art Gallery") is an art museum in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. Established in 1975, it contains the collections of the artist Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin (1914–1976).

The art gallery was established in Mymensingh as this is where the artist spent his early days. Abedin, a pioneer of the country's modern art movement, created works of art on subject matters such as the Bengal famine of 1943 and the peoples' independence. The museum is located in the area of Shaheeb Quarter Park on the bank of the Old Bramaputra River.

Each year in December, the gallery authority organizes an anniversary programme that includes a discussion on the life and work of Zainul, as well as a painting competition. While the art gallery does not issue publications, Bangladesh National Museum, which has a collection of 800 Abedin paintings, has issued posters and cards on behalf of the artist. Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala is a branch of the national museum.

Born in Mymensingh, Abedin drew pictures sitting by the Brahmaputra River. While a student at the local Mrityunjay ("Triumph Over Death") School, he won the first prize in a Bombay Chronicle art competition. Subsequently, the school's headmaster sent more of Abedin's paintings to India. Devoted to his art, the school teachers encouraged him to go to Kolkata and, in 1933, Abedin was admitted to Calcutta Government Art School.

In the 1950s, Abedin began a movement of collecting neglected pieces of Bangladeshi arts works that were scattered all over rural areas of the country. The artist remained attached to his hometown, prompting the establishment of a museum in Mymensingh on 15 April 1975 in a building owned by a Mr. Barden who later sold it to a member of the Viceroy's Executive Council. The gallery opened with approximately 70 pieces of art that included oil paintings and drawings by Abedin during his tours abroad. The gallery was initially run by a committee that was assisted by a local administration.

In its early years, it had 77 of Abedin's paintings but in 1982, seventeen pieces of art were stolen from the museum, only ten of which were retrieved in 1994.[5] Renovations began in 1997. Two year later, the National Museum took charge of the gallery, and completed renovations in 2004 on the 3.2-acre (1.3 ha) facility. This included construction of a main gate, ticket counters, and walls. A projector, sound system, and de-humidifier were installed. An artists' cottage and an open-air stage were added.

There are currently 53 oil paintings in the archive. The collection includes various themes and subjects, though most depict scenes of rural Bengal.[6] Besides the original paintings, there are 16 replicas, and 75 photographs on Zainul's life and works. There are also 69 mementos on display such as brushes, brush holder, bottles of turpentine and linseed oil, carbon box, charcoal, wax, colour palette, colour tube, easel, ink pot, leather portrait holder, metal clip, reed pen, scraper, spatula, and his spectacles. The mementos are situated in glass boxes in the midst of the gallery.

In accordance with Abedin's wishes, an art school has also been established in the museum grounds. Artists can stay at the Art Cottage which is located in a separate three-roomed building. An open-air stage is used by students on study tours and may be rented by others.

Xploring Hungary: Orthodox Museum In Miskolc --

The exhibition called 'The artistic and cultural heritage of the Hungarian Orthodox Church' extends to three rooms full of ecclesiastic treasures originating from Orthodox churches and parishes in Budapest, Miskolc, Eger, Gyöngyös, Szentes, Kecskemét, Üröm, Karcag and Nyíregyháza.

"This exhibition introduces the visitor to the history and cultural heritage of the Eastern Orthodox church with the help of goldsmith works, textiles, icons and documents. Rebuilt in 1805, the former school erected by the trading association in the grounds of the Miskolc Orthodox church has been home to the museum since 1988.

The corridor of this small but rich museum holds a collection of church and school history pertaining to the Greek settlers who arrived in Hungary during the 17th-18th century. It is in particular their multifaceted cultural heritage which the museum showcases. The first room is actually the reconstruction of a chapel and reflects the atmosphere of the period when Orthodox believers gathered for liturgy in small chapels rather than in monumental Baroque churches. The copperplate consecration icons of the Orthodox churches in Hungary are kept here.

The second room contains woven and embroidered liturgical textiles and goldsmiths' works. Of particular significance is a set of blankets woven with metal fibres in the Zuzana girls' school in Constantinople. Some goldsmith works originate from the Balkans and from Venice, others were created in Hungary. A three-part set (chalice, altar cross and episcopal candlestick) created in 1721 in Moscopolis is a masterpiece of 15th-century Macedonian goldsmithery.

The third room displays a rich collection of goldsmith artwork and on the wall screens the icon collection is on view. Icon painting is guided by a strict canon of symbols and instruments. Up to the most minute details painters adhere to narrative and illustrated iconographic. By the 18th century in Hungary icons were only painted by a few workshops of a lesser standard; more significant works were commissioned from invited or itinerant icon painters. One of the most outstanding and beautiful pieces is a Suffering Mother of God created by a member of the Cretan-Venetian circle.

Today the Hungarian Orthodox Church's headquarters are in Budapest and they have six parishes and three outparishes comprised of Orthodox believers mainly of Hungarian and Russian origin, belonging as they do to the Patriarchate of Moscow."

-- Brazilian culture: MUSIC - Indigenous People Yawanawás - Acre, Brazil.

Brazilian culture: MUSIC - Indigenous People Yawanawás - Acre, Brazil.

The indigenous music reflects the whole spirit of a people, there are traditional songs written by other musicians from different ethnic groups. Indian bands, singers and FESTIVALS are spread throughout Brazil, but little known on the national scene.

Songs written in indigenous languages other in Portuguese. Some tell stories, talk about the culture and also about feelings, thoughts. There are specific songs and prayers for ritual incantations which follow the traditional dances of the people.

Only 50 tourists can join the Party Mariri that celebrates Yawanawá tradition in Acre

What Amazon you want to know? His green expanse is home to both a forest, nine countries, the greatest biodiversity in the world in a tropical ecosystem, nine Brazilian states and the largest indigenous population in Brazil.

Acriana in the Amazon, specifically the Indigenous Territory of Gregory River, is located Mutum village of Yawanawás Indians. In 2000, the leader of the indigenous people, Yawanawá Joaquim Tashka, realized that the ancestral indigenous culture was being lost in the village: young people are no longer proud of both its origins and customs were no longer passed down from generation to generation.

Then came the Yawanawá Festival, which celebrates the indigenous culture of the tribe and rescues customs. The festival was more than successful and has attracted tourists from all corners. According Tashka Yawanawá, the popularity of the festival was such that one could compare it to the Parintins Festival. Or, to a sort of "Woodstock of the forest".

A decade later, given the popularity of Yawanawá Festival, Tashka and other members of the tribe realized that the festival was too touristy and missed the intimate and traditional tone of the early years. The festival is not over, but in 2013 came the Feast Mariri Yawanawá, whose schedule is five days and five nights dedicated to healing, dance, music and cultural and spiritual manifestations. In 2014, the festival takes place between the 10th and 15th of August.

Exclusive Tour

Despite the Mariri Party be facing indigenous communities, up to 50 tourists can be part of this celebration and hang out in the village space. The Mundus Conscious Tourism Agency offers a unique script in Mutum village for tourists who want to have a spiritual reunion of experience and know the culture of an indigenous village.

Get away from the traditional tourist routine is only a detail of that script. While Yawanawás Indians celebrate their culture in Mariri Festival, visitors, and can experience customs, rituals and games of Yawanawá tradition, have an introspective experience of harmony with nature.

The tour

It's not that simple to get to the village Mutum, but according to Maria Teresa Meinberg, operator founder Mundus Tourism aware, the journey of almost three days to reach the tribe already part of the immersion experience on the forest way of life.

To reach the village, visitors must travel by van or car for about eight hours from Rio Branco to the Rio Gregory. The means of transport will be exchanged for a boat, and the trip through the course of the river, bordering the density of forest trees, takes about six hours. It is only then that the visitor finally reaches the long-awaited village Mutum. A chartered plane leaves the back shorter: the entire route is done through the air in "only" one day.

Guests can choose to sleep in dormitories, in hammocks or beds, or stay with host families who live in the village. There are four kitchens around the place, with typical foods (porridge, banana, hunting food, cassava ...), but also has the traditional rice and beans for those who do not adapt to the local cuisine. There is no electricity, no cell phone signal, but has internet point and Wi-Fi.

Stay in an indigenous community to hang out with Yanawás may sound intrusive, but Joaquim Tashka explains that tourism is a way to help protect the endangered territory, ". The tour ends up benefiting the community by visibility"

Although there is no law to approve tourism in the village. Tourists staying in Mutum village are "guests", as the indigenous people have autonomy over their land.

Definitely, tourists who embark on this indigenous experience should not go with expectations of staying in a Tropical Manaus or something. And yes with an open mind ready to see painted Indians (with or without clothes), try paca meat (or monkey, or capybara ...), sleeping on the network and above all: respect other people's culture.

In no time the tourist is required to participate in activities, but you are free to join the rituals and games. The further integration, the better. Is with the Indians or with nature.

Mukachevo-Berehovo, Since 1993, here is the Mukachevo historical museum, regional museum and an art gallery.

Mukachevo has a long and glorious history, which is one of the most interesting pages of Transcarpathian region. 1108 years had passed since the first written mention of the city. Mukachevo was founded on the historical crossroad of trade routes. It was granted a status of city in the 14th century. Then Mukachevo was included to the list of royal property, and it was granted the privileges like other medieval cities. During this period, the city was being built, it was expanding and changing the composition of its population.

Since ancient times trade routes crossed and different cultures met each other here. Various political storms swept over Mukachevo through the ages. It was a part of Hungary, Galicia-Volhynia principality, Austria, Austro-Hungarian empire, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet. Now it is a part of independent and sovereign Ukrainian state.

From whatever side you approach Mukachevo, you can see the majestic military medieval architectural sight, covered by combat fame and legends. It is Palanok castle, built for defense and control of trade and military routes. It played an important role in formation of Mukachevo.

Since 1993, here is the Mukachevo historical museum, regional museum and an art gallery.

A monastery on Chernecha mountain is one more decoration of the city. Its founder was a Lithuanian-Ruthenian Prince Fedor Koryatovych. This monastery underwent a lot of reconstructions and changes. Since 1772 there was a residence of bishops of Mukachevo eparchy. Prominent leaders of culture lived and worked there. Now on Chernecha mountain there is a Nunnery of St. Nicholas.

Mukachevo is a cradle of many crafts, which became a powerful multi-industrial complex. In the past our masters of casting, masons, potters, glassblowers were widely known around the world. Now industrial builders, skiers, confectioners, manufacturers of jersey, concrete, clothes, ceramics, furniture and bricks of Mukachevo are well-known in Ukraine and beyond.

Nowadays Mukachevo is a big European industrial city, which managed to preserve and renovate the building of city hall, theatre and other objects, which were built in the end of 19th and beginning of 20th century. Here the architectural heritage of Austro-Hungarian Empire is conserved. Spirit of Habsburgs wanders here together with a captured tune with exquisite gothic and playful baroque.

Berehove town is located on the banks of small river Virke, near the mountain foot. Slopes of the mountains are covered by vineyards. Berehove is known for its ancient traditions of grape-growing and wine-making.

Famous reformed church writer Papaji Pariz Ferents (1649-1716) in his book “Dictionarium latino-hungaricum” states that before Hungarian invasion there was a Roman settlement, called Perigium. But this assumption was not scientifically proved.

During many centuries Hungarian kings were the owners of this settlement.

Widely known legend tells us about quite early foundation of the city. The famous researcher-ethnographist Tivadar Lehotsky writes: “According to the legend, on the site of modern Roman Catholic church there was a pit, which had been dug by hooves of fighting bulls. A shepherd named Sas found a huge treasure there and built a church and a town, which was later called Berehsas. But this legend doesn’t have a historical confirmation.”

Since 1504 the town is called Berehsas in the documents.

Since 1946 Berehove is an official name of the town. It is the only place of Transcarpathian region, where the majority of people are Hungarian.

Berehove is a town of district submission, a centre of Berehovo district. It is located in 72 km from Uzhhorod, the region centre. Territory of Berehove district is 802 square kilometres, population - 83,3 thousands people. 32 thousands of them live in Berehove. Town is crossed by Virke canal, which connects Borzhava river with Latorycya river.

Till 1944 the town was a centre of Berezhska zhupa (district).

Town played an active role in the liberation war of 1848-1849. After the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye it joined the Czechoslovak Republic.

In June 1945 Zakarpattya region was included into Ukraine.

In Berehove there is one Russian, 2 Ukrainian, 3 Hungarian schools, one Ukrainian and one Hungarian gymnasium, professional-technical and medical colleges. Hungarian Pedagogical Institute has been opened recently. Here are the professional Hungarian national theatre named after Gyula Illyés and the amateur folk theatre of the Culture and Rest Centre of the district. The art school also plays an active role in the cultural life of the town.

In the town there are various industries: timber, furniture-making, device-building, sewing and other, but in modern hard economical conditions they work not at their full capacity. Berehove district is famous for its wine-making. Transcarpathian branded wines are bottled in the winery of Berehove.

Extensive work is carried out by such non-governmental organizations as Society of Hungarian Culture of Transcarpathian region (town and district branches), Society of Hungarian Culture of Berehivshchyna, “Prosvita” and others.

In Berehove there are monuments to Sándor Petőfi, Lajos Kossuth, Gabriel Bethlen and Gyula Illyés and more than 42 memorial boards to different leaders of history, culture and art.

The quaint building with small tower and graceful Art Nouveau panels on the facade will not allow you to make a mistake: it was built in the epoch of modern. In the building of former casino there is the best restaurant of the town – “Zolota pava”. The style is keeped even in details: stage in the shape of peacock tail,bird-shaped lamps, bouquets of feathers. Luxurious mirrors and soft sofas. Bilingual menu. Polite doorman. Here are tasty salads, huge portions and ridiculous prices.

But it is better not to visit an outdoor thermal pool after a meal. This pool receives water from the well of 1680 m deep. Near this aqua-joy there is a freestyle springboard, sports ground, sauna. You can find all these facilities on the territory of sports base “Zakarpattya”.

Calm lateral streets crawl like snakes among small, but special mansions of 19th century. Rare multistorey buildings look like aliens in this frozen past. Past is sweet, but with a bitter note.

Aqui, o património arquitectónico do Império Austro-Húngaro é conservada.

З 1685 по 1688р. замок переживає одну з най-більших облог, яку здійснили війська Австрій-ського імператора. Керувала обороною замку вдова князя Ференца І Ракоці їлона Зріні. Після захоплення замку австрійці його реконструю-вали, що зробило його найсильнішою фортецею на сході Австрійської імперії. ;
