Cultura brasileira: Candomblé. - Samba de terreiro, atabaques do Candomblé. --- Brazilian culture: Candomblé. - Yard of Samba drums of Candomblé.

- Yard of Samba drums of Candomblé.

The samba schools are the fruit of the African diaspora enslaved, in a new world, resinificaram their practices and gave new meaning to their traditions.

There was reborn here, in a large yard called America. So every time we sing a terreiro samba - indeed, for those unaware, the yard is nothing more than the court in which fellas, but with a "modernoso" name - is the evocation of an ancestral memory of Candomblé terreiros of Praça Onze, Gamboa, Estacio, hose, etc., because these were places where it was the macumba, but then enjoyed the drumming wheels, kick and improvisation; further, it is the evocation of our African ancestry massacred daily.

The wheel of Bahian around the yard / court - the skirt, mothers holy and samba - rotates counter-clockwise, the same wheel of pastors who held strong the corner of the test; They are also the same direction of Candombl wheels.

So as a way to evoke the dark force, it has a specific meaning which refers to the memory of our enslaved ancestors who resisted the mistreatment of the colonizer. It does not stop there.

If we enjoyed today, a good feijoada, know that it is also cooked in the fire of Africanity with a huge symbolism: it was once a slave to food, now also is holy food to praise Ogun, or St. George, depending on the faith.

The 3 drums of Candomblé and some Umbandas are rhythmically represented on the batteries with the deaf 1st, 2nd and 3rd, all with the same functions to sustain the pace, balance the body and evoke devotion. The war boxes of samba schools, in turn, also make direct reference to Candomblé touch for some specific saints, usually patron respective associations.

The Old Guards, representing the stories that we do not live, but we need to know to exist today, are finally the resistance so that our identity is not torn: What would be the Portelenses without Jaqueira school identity symbol? And the Imperians without Silas de Oliveira, genial composer? Hose without top hat? Vila Isabel without China, founder of the club?

Friends, all this is to make ourselves the following question: Who are we, samba dancers? What we represent and what we stand for? Samba, until today, was played in the logic of "dying, but does not die."

Think well before voting. Tomorrow may be too late.
