--- Issy-les-Moulineaux: India to the honor at the museum of the card to play. --- Issy-les-Moulineaux: Índia homenageado no Museu do cartão de jogo.

Belote, solitaire, tarot…

--- In Marrakech, when the Moroccan bourgeoisie builds museums rather than golf courses.

Entrepreneur Mohamed Alami Lazraq designed his Al-Maaden museum as an artistic jewel. The inaugural exhibition, Essential Landscape, is a link between the different African artistic influences.

Three years ago, Mohamed Alami Lazraq saw great. "Some must say that I'm crazy, we had then entrusted the boss of the Moroccan real estate group Alliances, a dry and pressed man, collector of art for forty years.

As I do not imagine selling a single work, and I can not expose everything in my offices, I thought of a museum. " Not a small museum: 6000 m2 devoted to contemporary African art, built at the crossroads of three golf courses, across from the "resort" Al Maaden in Marrakech.

A contest was launched in the wake, won by the Spanish architects Nieto Sobejano. But the crisis has gone through that. Accusing a 31% drop in turnover in 2014, the Moroccan magnate had to liquidate three companies in its construction division and restructure a highly indebted group. No more buying new works. Still less to embark on a costly infrastructure.

The reverses of fortune have less blunted the desire of Lazraq than they have resized it. Exit Pharaonic ambitions. Place to a jewel of 900 m2, designed by the French architect Jean-François Bodin in what was until June 2016 a sales office in Al-Maaden. "We need a successful project, not a project that is greater than our capabilities," says Mostafa Aghrib, director of the museum. I would rather spend the budget on education and community building than on spending most of the money on maintenance. "

Named in October 2016, the latter has only this word to mouth: education. "It will be necessary to reinvent another language and not to barate students with a sophisticated vocabulary," he says. We want young people to feel confident that they are not impressed. "

Talking pedagogy in a crested golf course can make you smile. Hard to imagine a resident of the popular district of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali easily overcome the scrutiny of the gatekeeper at the entrance of Al Maaden then that, condescending, users of golf ... "The educational discourse artificial air, Plated like a patch, but it is real, pleads Meryem Sebti, editor-in-chief of the Moroccan art magazine Diptyk.

In Morocco, we have not yet found the method that combines the public composed of the directors of the great international museums, the great bourgeoisie and the little children who live in the working-class districts. But you'll see: the school buses will come to Al-Maaden and leave with goodies. Because that's how things work here. "

The inaugural exhibition "Essentiel paysage", conceived by Brahim Alaoui, participates in the didactic aspiration. The Moroccan curator has brought together works suitable for all audiences, first the uninitiated, without falling in a literal and simplistic art. Building on syncretism, he also avoided drawing a delimitation between white and black Africa. Also hanging he mingles happily Congolese artists like Peter Bodo, Chéri Cherin and Chéri Samba, that Lazraq acquired in recent years, with their Maghreb counterparts Yamou, Younes Rahmoun or Hicham Berrada.

Planet Manged

Cut in five sequences, the course slips from the evocation of a nature fertile to that of a planet mistreated by man. Everyone is critical of it. The emaciated branches of Cameroon's Pascale Marthine Tayou imprison plastic bags that, although harmful to the environment, proliferate throughout the continent. The pictures of the Congolese Sammy Baloji show the gaping scars left with the mines of Katanga by the Belgian colonization.

The exhibition also has the merit of extending the spectrum to naive artists: Mohamed Ben Allal, originally cook, Ahmed Louardiri, gardener by profession, or Mohamed Tabal, musician of Essaouira who creates in a state of trance, according to the ritual Gnaoua. Without forgetting the Ethiopian painter Mawi Mazgabu Gera, whose Talismans borrow from the archetypes and ideograms of the Ethiopian Orthodox icons.

This pleasing set-up has set the bar high for the rest of the programming, which will be based in particular on partnerships with the Zinsou and Blachère Foundations.

It also attests to a slow mutation of the Moroccan bourgeoisie, which Meryem Sebti summarizes thus: "Twenty years ago, people like Lazraq erected club houses and golf shops. Today, they make museums. "

In 2017, frevo completes a decade of formal recognition as National Historic and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) in the Register of Forms of Expression, of Brazil.

In 2007, it was registered by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan) in the Register of Forms of Expression.

In 2012, it was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).

Frevo Day, February 9, it is important to reaffirm the importance of this form of musical, choreographic and poetic expression that has enchanted us for over 100 years.

The song arose even in the early years of the twentieth century and was sung initially by the revelers of the Club Carnavalesco Misto Vassourinhas. It has crossed generations and has become one of the great symbols of carnival and Frevo Pernambuco, one of the richest and most emblematic cultural and immaterial patrimonies of Brazil.

The origin of the frevo refers to the end of the nineteenth century, a moment of social effervescence, with a series of manifestations of the popular classes as a way to occupy the streets and squares, especially in Olinda and Recife. Its consolidation took place amid the participation of newly freed slaves, capoeiristas and the new working class, besides the rivalry between the several military bands and the emergence of new urban spaces.

After all, frevo was the expression of a political protest and a social criticism in the form of music, dance and poetry. It was, at the same time, a symbol of resistance in Pernambuco and an unequivocal manifestation of Brazil's cultural diversity.

Product of a unique historical context, this rich artistic manifestation of Pernambuco culture is one of the main roots of Brazilian music. From the eclectic repertoire of the bands of music, which integrated several musical styles, resulted three modalities that last until the present day: the frevo of street, the frevo of block and the frevo-song.

As part of the Frevo Day program and the ten years of recognition as Cultural Patrimony, the Ministry of Culture (MinC) and Iphan will present a plaque in honor of the Paço do Frevo Reference Center, a space dedicated to the dissemination of actions, projects and Activities of documentation, transmission, safeguard and valorization of this important musical and cultural expression of the country. Opened in 2014, the Paço is an initiative of the Municipality of Recife, with the realization of the Roberto Marinho Foundation, and was supported by MinC and Iphan through the culture incentive law.

On this day of commemorations, it is worth remembering that Pernambuco is one of the Brazilian states with the greatest number of cultural manifestations recognized as immaterial patrimony. Just to mention a few examples, in addition to the frevo, we have the Caruaru Fair, the staging of the Seahorse, the maracatu in its most varied styles, the folkloric dance of Caboclinhos, the theater of puppets and puppets popularly known as mamulengo, among many others.

Frevo is rooted in our culture, especially in the collective memory of the people of Pernambuco, and represents a mixture of musical and artistic genres that says a lot about the diversity and the inventiveness of Brazilians. To revere frevo is, after all, to value the culture of Brazil.

Frevo (Foto: Arquivo Google)

Reverenciar o frevo é, afinal, valorizar a cultura do Brasil.
