The city of Salvador, in Bahia, Brazil, will invest in museums With the construction of three new public spaces.

As a way of revitalizing the region of Commerce, once one of the most important in the capital of Bahia, Salvador must soon gain new equipment that should attract the attention not only of Bahians but also of tourists. Monuments to be erected in historic buildings and listed by the Institute of National Historical and Artistic Heritage (Iphan), the Museums of Music and History, and the Public Archive, can give a new face to the region.

For this, the capital should have just over $ 100 million for the construction of equipment. The money comes from two financing: For the Museums of History and the Public Archives, will be R $ 30 million, through a partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). These spaces will occupy three of the seven properties that were expropriated by the City Hall between Portugal, Belgium and Miguel Calmon streets.

A further R $ 75 mi will be used to implement the Music Museum, which will be built on the remaining four properties in the region, including the Casa dos Azulejos, which is currently abandoned and propped up, leaving those who visit the neighborhood of Capital of Bahia. The resource will come from the Latin American Development Bank.

According to the Secretary of Culture and Tourism of Salvador, Cláudio Tinoco, the expectation is that the bidding documents will be published between the end of this year and the beginning of 2018. "As for the Museum and the Archive, we are close to finalizing the executive project. We will also have a consultancy that should offer the conceptual proposal and the content of these collections. Regarding the Music Museum, we are analyzing the manifestations of private interest, enabling the company to develop this executive project, "said the secretary.

EXPROPRIATION

On Wednesday, municipal management announced the payment of a little more than R $ 1.8 million for the expropriation of seven properties located in the region of Commerce and that will occur in the coming days. The lawsuit was running at the 8th Public Treasury Court and occurred after the City of Salvador sought their respective owners to try to reach an agreement, but without success.

One of these buildings, located between the Streets of Belgium and Miguel Calmon, collapsed part of its structure last Thursday. According to the Civil Defense, there were no injuries, but the house - in 1928 - according to the City Hall, is private and is within the polygonal of the National Historical and Artistic Institute (Iphan).

According to Tinoco, the seven properties made up, at the end of the year 2000, the group of Imocom Group, which was part of the Hilton Hotel. At the time, the expectation was that a hotel complex was built on the site. But embargoes from the State and Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, which called for a halt to interventions, in addition to the global economic crisis, prevented the work progress.

A cultura e o amor devem estar juntos.

Vamos compartilhar.

Culture is not what enters the eyes and ears,
but what modifies the way of looking and hearing.
