Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov - collaboration: Memnune P. Batur - Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov

Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov (Russian: Александр Андреевич Иванов; July 28, 1806 - July 15, 1858) was a Russian painter who adhered to the tradition of neoclassicism already in decline, but found little sympathy among his contemporaries.

Born in St. Petersburg, Ivanov studied together with Karl Briullov at the Imperial Academy of Arts with his father, Andrey A. Ivanov. He spent most of his life in Rome, where he became friends with Gogol and succumbed to the influence of the Nazarenes. He was called "the master of a work", for it took him 20 years to complete his magna, The Apparition of Christ before the People (1837-57), currently in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

Critical judgment on Ivanov would improve in the next generation. Some of the numerous sketches he had prepared for The Apparition were recognized as works of art in their own right. The most comprehensive collection of his works can be seen at the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg.

Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov - colaboração: Memnune P. Batur

MoMA’s New Exhibit Deems YEEZY, Nike & Supreme as Museum Worthy.

The Museum of Modern Art opened a new exhibit this morning focusing on clothing and accessories that have shaped culture throughout the years. Called “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” it’s the MoMA’s first fashion exhibit since 1944.

The exhibit traces the evolution of fashion and style throughout the years, ranging from dresses by Christian Dior, Givenchy and Coco Chanel to suits by Thom Browne, Giorgio Armani and Yohji Yamamoto.

Street fashion gets its shine too, as seen in a custom mask made from a pair of YEEZY 350 V2s, multiple sneakers like the Air Force 1, Chuck Taylor and adidas Superstar, and a projection of a Supreme box logo tee on a Hanes shirt as part of a larger presentation on graphic tees.

A good portion of “Items: Is Fashion Modern?” displays the kind of timeless garments that have an eternal appeal. Steve Jobs’s favorite Issey Miyake turtleneck is featured along with a Schott 1950s One Star Perfecto, a bright red Champion reverse weave hoodie, and an old pair of Levi’s 501 jeans. In addition to the graphic tee display, the basic Hanes white tee is also given its own space.

In conjunction with the exhibit, the MoMA Design Store has exclusive product tying into the exhibit. There’s a Champion Reverse Weave hoodie styled after the collegiate staple, a forest green Polo Ralph Lauren shirt—a reproduction of the first polo the label made–and a New Era fitted New York Yankees baseball cap with MoMA embroidery on the side.

Outside of the exhibit, there is also a revolving shoppable installation that will feature many of the brands displayed in the exhibit. Right now, New Era is selling a curved-brim adjustable version of its MoMA x Yankees cap in a wide array of colors, with future installations planned with labels like Champion.

Now check out what went down this weekend at the New York Art Book Fair.

Before being a museum, the mansion of Les Jacquemart-André was the residence of the couple of collectors formed by André and Nélie Jacquemart, and it is therefore naturally that it receives collections originally private.

After the works of the Spanish contemporary collector Alicia Koplowitz ("The Alicia Koplowitz Collection - From Zurbarán to Rothko"), the collection of the Danish couple Hansen comes together.

At the beginning of the 20th century, it was held in their mansion in Ordrupgaard, in a gallery accessible to the public, and then converted into a museum with its legacy to the Danish State.

Its particularity stems in particular from the approach supported. Indeed, it certainly emerges from the passion for French painting but the aesthetic emotions are framed by a desire to constitute, methodically, a collection of scale comprising only masterpieces and no less than twelve for each of the great names of Corot's painting at Cézanne.

This ambition, although not entirely satisfied by the reversal of fortune, is nevertheless impressively revealed by the selection of 156 works selected by Anne-Birgitte Fonsmark, the director of the Ordrupgaard Museum.

The secret garden of the Hansen: the fine flower of impressionist and post-impressionist painting.

The visit takes place on a chono-stylistic journey like a dazzling crossing of the History of Art, from Realism to Fauvism with Impressionism in majesty, Monet of course but also Pissarro and Sisley.

In addition, the collection covers the different pictorial genres. If the one of the still life and the portrait are well represented, for the first with rarities signed Manet and Gauguin, and, for the second, with Renoir, Degas, also Gauguin with his Tahitian, Berthe Morisot (" Eva Gonzales ("La Convalescente"), reveals a tropism for the landscape with an in-between, the landscape with figures of Cezanne on the theme of bathers, canvas reproduced on the poster of the exhibition.

In addition to the Impressionist landscape, the landscape reigns supreme with two exceptional rooms, one for "nature in majesty" with Courbet, the other for "imaginary landscapes" of Gauguin with two bewitching works: "Les arbres blue "and" Paysage de Pont-Aven ".

An exhibition devoted to Gauguin's creative process - "Gauguin the Alchemist" - will soon be on view at the Grand Palais.

O Jardim Secreto do Hansen - A Coleção Ordrupgaard - Museu Jacquemart-André (Paris).

在西班牙当代收藏家Alicia Koplowitz(“Alicia Koplowitz系列 - 从Zurbarán到Rothko”)的作品之后,丹麦夫人Hansen的收藏聚集在一起。
