MoMu’s exhibition Olivier Theyskens – She walks in beauty takes you on a journey with one of the most fascinating Belgian designers: Olivier Theyskens. The show will explore his creative evolution of twenty years in the fashion business, his craftsmanship and the changing atmospheres of his work through a multitude of silhouettes imbued with the couture spirit.

From the dark romantic side of his early designs which brought him world fame, to the new vision of couture he instilled at Rochas, his mastering of textiles and cut at Nina Ricci, his American adventure with Theyskens’ Theory and the re-launch of his own brand Olivier Theyskens, the silhouettes on show all display the master’s hand.

His extraordinary talent for drawing and autodidactic work method give a great insight into the different aspects of the contemporary fashion industry: from couture to semi-couture and ready-to-wear.

The journey will be accompanied by literary voices which form a counterpoint to his visual world, photographs, films and drawings which show the creative process of the artist at work.

The Theyskens muse changes through time: she’s romantic, mysterious, strong and elegant, both young and old, but she walks in beauty wherever she goes. A heart whose love is innocent!

Twice a year MoMu presents a new exposition: based on the MoMu collection (25,000 pieces), and completed with loaned works, these expositions might tell a designer’s story or focus on a fashion related theme. You won’t find a permanent display here, but rather a varied programme that focuses on the different dimensions of the world of fashion.

The story supported by scenography 

Each exposition tells a complete story. In addition to exhibiting garments, they will also portray the designer’s sources of inspiration, or connections to other art disciplines, etc. The result: an exhibition hall that changes for every exposition and takes you on a journey to a completely different world of fashion; a world just waiting to be discovered.

MoMu+Friends

MoMu strives to reinforce their connection to the larger public through a varied programme of workshops, evening openings, visits and seminars. Their objective is also illustrated by the MoMu’s friend’s association, MoMu+Friends. Since 2011, this network unites people with a passion for fashion. For a contribution starting from €50 you too will have the opportunity to join forces with MoMu and contribute to the international success story of Belgian fashion, on top of which you will be able to enjoy special offers and unique activities.

ModeNatie: from department store to museum 

You can find the ModeMuseum at ModeNatie in the Nationalestraat, in the heart of the Antwerp’s fashion district. The building that houses ModeNatie was built in the 19th century as a department store for the New England Menswear and Children’s fashion shop. After a thorough renovation in 2000, led by Marie-José Van Hee, the architect from Ghent, MoMu too opened its doors here in September of 2002. The ModeNatie also houses the Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI), the fashion department of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts – Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp and the Copyright Bookshop.

She walks in beauty, MoMu vous emmène en voyage avec l’un des créateurs les plus fascinants de Belgique : Olivier Theyskens. Une exploration de ses vingt ans d’évolution créative dans la mode , qui, au travers une multitude de silhouettes imprégnées de l’esprit de la couture, présente son savoir-faire artisanal et les atmosphères changeantes de son oeuvre.

De l’aura romantique et ténébreuse de ses débuts, qui lui valut une renommée internationale immédiate, jusqu’à sa nouvelle vision de la Couture mise en oeuvre chez Rochas, sa maîtrise de la coupe et des tissus chez Nina Ricci, son aventure américaine de Theyskens’ Theory, puis enfin la relance de sa ligne éponyme, toutes ces silhouettes exhibent la main du maître.

Son don extraordinaire de dessinateur comme sa manière singulière de travailler en autodidacte, éclairent avec pertinence les différentes facettes de la mode contemporaine : de la couture, en passant par la semi-couture, jusqu’au prêt-à-porter.

De tentoonstelling traceert zijn creatieve evolutie doorheen twintig jaar in de modewereld, zijn vakmanschap en de verschillende sferen van zijn werk doorheen een veelheid aan silhouetten die de geest van de haute couture ademen.

Van de donkere romantische kant van zijn vroege collecties die hem internationale faam opleverden, tot de nieuwe visie op couture die hij bij Rochas uittekende, zijn meesterschap van patroon en textielbewerking bij Nina Ricci, zijn Amerikaans avontuur bij Theyskens’ Theory en de heropstart van zijn eigen label, Olivier Theyskens, verraden alle silhouetten de hand van de meester.

PADJAK (Performance Art di Jakarta) is a collective of young performance artists who live and work in Jakarta. They develop and document happenings, performances and actions for the Indonesian capital. PADJAK mainly puts on small-scale spontaneous performances in public space. The collective does not restrict itself to particular themes or media, so its actions are very variable in nature. The artists often take last-minute decisions that depend on the space, the resources available and the people present. Their aim is to think beyond the traditional performance art that refers to theatre, art and demonstration. In their view, it should be possible to create performances purely and simply for the sake of art. For this reason, the work of PADJAK is not always made to be watched by an audience. The collective compares performing with sketches or rehearsals that result from their immediate surroundings.

Om, Telolet Om! (2017)

The two artists representing PADJAK are Dwinanda Agung Kristianto (1982, Jakarta) and Kelvin Atmadibrata (1988, Jakarta). They both live and work in Jakarta. Like all the inhabitants of this densely populated capital city, they have numerous memories of traffic congestion. These experiences are in the first place personal, but they can also be shared with many other people. After all, every driver is confronted with polluted air, noise, dangerous manoeuvres and lost hours. At the same time, everyone can also associate tailbacks with moments of inner calm and silence, turning off the engine and putting on the handbrake.

In their performance Om, Telolet Om!, Kelvin Atmadibrata and Dwinanda Agung Kristianto hark back to these exceptional moments of peace. They use their bodies as living sculptures that occasionally move and repeat certain actions. By mutual arrangement they scream Om, Telolet Om! every so often, which means ‘Uncle, toot, uncle’. This is what children in Jakarta call out playfully to urge passing truck drivers to toot their horns.

In this hour-long performance based on an everyday occurrence, Atmadibrata and Kristianto aim to focus attention on the broader social and ecological issues of the Indonesian capital.

PADJAK (Performance Art di Jakarta) é um coletivo de jovens artistas de performance que vivem e trabalham em Jacarta. Eles desenvolvem e documentam acontecimentos, desempenhos e ações para a capital da Indonésia. O PADJAK realiza principalmente desempenhos espontâneos em pequena escala no espaço público. O coletivo não se restringe a temas ou mídia específicos, portanto suas ações são de natureza muito variável. Os artistas muitas vezes tomam decisões de última hora que dependem do espaço, dos recursos disponíveis e das pessoas presentes. Seu objetivo é pensar além da arte da performance tradicional que se refere ao teatro, à arte e à demonstração. Na sua opinião, deve ser possível criar desempenhos pura e simplesmente por causa do art. Por esse motivo, o trabalho do PADJAK nem sempre é feito para ser visto por uma audiência. O coletivo compara desempenho com esboços ou ensaios que resultam de seus arredores imediatos.

Om, Telolet Om! (2017)

Os dois artistas que representam PADJAK são Dwinanda Agung Kristianto (1982, Jacarta) e Kelvin Atmadibrata (1988, Jacarta). Ambos vivem e trabalham em Jacarta. Como todos os habitantes desta capital densamente povoada, eles têm muitas lembranças do congestionamento de trânsito. Essas experiências são, em primeiro lugar, pessoais, mas também podem ser compartilhadas com muitas outras pessoas. Afinal, cada motorista é confrontado com ar poluído, barulho, manobras perigosas e horas perdidas. Ao mesmo tempo, todos também podem associar tailbacks com momentos de calma e silêncio internos, desligando o motor e colocando o freio de mão.

Na sua performance, Om, Telolet Om !, Kelvin Atmadibrata e Dwinanda Agung Kristianto retornam a esses momentos excepcionais de paz. PADJAK (Performance Art di Jakarta) is een collectief van jonge performancekunstenaars die in Jakarta wonen en werken. Ze ontwikkelen en documenteren gebeurtenissen, uitvoeringen en acties voor de Indonesische hoofdstad. PADJAK zet vooral kleine spontane uitvoeringen in de openbare ruimte op. Het collectief beperkt zich niet tot bepaalde thema's of media, dus zijn acties zijn zeer variabel van aard. De kunstenaars nemen vaak last-minute beslissingen die afhankelijk zijn van de ruimte, de beschikbare middelen en de aanwezigen. Hun doel is verder te denken dan de traditionele performancekunst die verwijst naar theater, kunst en demonstratie. Naar hun mening zou het mogelijk moeten zijn om puur en eenvoudig performances te maken in het belang van de kunst. Om deze reden is het werk van PADJAK niet altijd gemaakt om te worden bekeken door een publiek. Het collectief vergelijkt het uitvoeren met schetsen of repetities die voortvloeien uit hun directe omgeving.

Om, Telolet Om! (2017)

De twee artiesten die PADJAK vertegenwoordigen zijn Dwinanda Agung Kristianto (1982, Jakarta) en Kelvin Atmadibrata (1988, Jakarta). Ze wonen en werken beiden in Jakarta. Net als alle inwoners van deze dichtbevolkte hoofdstad hebben ze talloze herinneringen aan verkeerscongestie. Deze ervaringen zijn in de eerste plaats persoonlijk, maar ze kunnen ook met veel andere mensen worden gedeeld. Immers, elke chauffeur wordt geconfronteerd met vervuilde lucht, geluid, gevaarlijke manoeuvres en verloren uren. Tegelijkertijd kan iedereen ook de files associëren met momenten van innerlijke kalmte en stilte, de motor afzetten en de handrem aantrekken.

In hun uitvoering Om, Telolet Om !, klagen Kelvin Atmadibrata en Dwinanda Agung Kristianto terug naar deze uitzonderlijke momenten van vrede. Ze gebruiken hun lichamen als levende sculpturen die af en toe bepaalde handelingen verplaatsen en herhalen. In onderling overleg schreeuwen ze Om, Telolet Om! zo vaak, wat 'oom, toeter, oom' betekent. Dit is wat kinderen in Jakarta spelenderwijs roepen om vrachtwagenchauffeurs ertoe te bewegen hun hoorns te laten toeteren.

In deze een uur durende voorstelling gebaseerd op een alledaagse gebeurtenis, streven Atmadibrata en Kristianto ernaar de aandacht te vestigen op de bredere sociale en ecologische kwesties van de Indonesische hoofdstad.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has exhibited memorabilia inside Twickenham Stadium since 1979.

An informal museum was created underneath the South Stand in 1983 before the Museum of Rugby was constructed in the East Stand and officially unveiled in 1996.

In 2007 the Museum of Rugby was renamed the World Rugby Museum to reflect its growing collection and to create a focal point for the heritage and culture of rugby around the world.

In 2017 the World Rugby Museum vacated the East Stand and was completely rebuilt in the South Stand with £1.8 Million capital investment by the RFU.

Our collection of over 38,000 objects are displayed within our permanent galleries and supplement a regular programme of special exhibitions as well as formal and informal learning programmes.

We welcome over 25,000 visitors annually.

We are a museum of international rugby history, holding the most extensive collection of rugby football memorabilia in the world, including over 38,000 recorded objects, 15,000 pieces of archival material and 9,000 photographs, from the RFU collection, the Harry Langton Collection and the RFU Rugby Archive.

Star items include the world’s oldest international football jersey and the Calcutta Cup, which is the world’s oldest international football trophy.

February 2018 will see the World Rugby Museum reopen its doors to visitors in the South Stand of Twickenham Stadium after a year long relocation project.

The World Rugby Museum is the definitive home for everything and anything about rugby. Featuring more than three times as many objects, the new museum will display memorabilia from around the world and from all eras, making it a must visit for all rugby fans.

While the museum is currently closed, Twickenham Stadium Tours and ‘From the Vaults’ online blog are continuing. Anyone who has completed a Stadium Tour since the museum closed in February will get free entry to visit the new museum when it re-opens in the new year.

"The new location presented an opportunity for the museum to improve its content and modernise its interpretive methods, says museum curator, Phil McGowan.

“The cutting edge new museum will be bigger, better, brighter and more interactive than ever before,” he added.

“It will house the world’s most prestigious collection of rugby memorabilia. This will include commentary, film and match-footage from the most iconic moments, memorable tours and greatest players in the history of what is the world’s most dramatic team sport.

“It will also include purpose-built events, education and research facilities and invite visitors to engage in the game with exciting hands-on interactive exhibits.”

The museum began life as the ‘Museum of Rugby’ in 1996 before rebranding as the ‘World Rugby Museum’ in 2008.

Its collection - that includes the RFU and Harry Langton rugby collections - has increased significantly since 1996, and the move represents an opportunity to become more object focused and better tell the true story of rugby from around the world, covering iconic teams, such as the 1924 New Zealand side, the 1900s Wales teams, the 1971 and 1974 British & Irish Lions sides, as well as the 2003 England team.

O World Rugby Museum é o lar definitivo para tudo e qualquer coisa sobre rugby. Com mais de três vezes mais objetos, o novo museu exibirá memorabilia de todo o mundo e de todas as eras, tornando-se uma visita obrigatória para todos os fãs de rugby.

Enquanto o museu está atualmente fechado, o Twickenham Stadium Tours e o blog on-line 'From the Vaults' continuam. Qualquer um que tenha completado um Tour do Estádio desde que o museu fechou em fevereiro receberá entrada gratuita para visitar o novo museu quando ele voltar a abrir no novo ano.

"O novo local apresentou uma oportunidade para o museu melhorar seu conteúdo e modernizar seus métodos interpretativos, diz o curador do museu, Phil McGowan.

"O novo museu de ponta será maior, melhor, mais brilhante e mais interativo do que nunca", acrescentou.

"Ele abrirá a coleção mais prestigiada do mundo de recordações de rugby. Isso incluirá comentários, filmes e imagens de fósforo dos momentos mais icônicos, passeios memoráveis ​​e melhores jogadores na história do que é o esporte de equipe mais dramático do mundo.

"Ele também incluirá eventos propostos, instalações educacionais e de pesquisa e convidará os visitantes a se envolverem no jogo com exposições interativas emocionantes".

O museu começou a vida como o "Museu do Rugby" em 1996 antes de se tornar o "Museu Mundial do Rugby" em 2008.

Sua coleção - que inclui as coleções de rugby RFU e Harry Langton - aumentou significativamente desde 1996, e o movimento representa uma oportunidade para se tornar mais focado em objetos e melhor contar a verdadeira história do rugby de todo o mundo, cobrindo equipes icônicas, como a Lado da Nova Zelândia de 1924, as equipes de Gales de 1900, os lados Lions britânicos e irlandeses de 1971 e 1974, bem como a equipe de Inglaterra de 2003.
